Enhancing One Health		The One Health Knowledge Nexus is a collaborative platform uniting a diverse and complementary set of Communities of Practice (CoP) providing technical resources, coordination, and networking opportunities to support the mainstreaming of One Health. The platform actively promotes knowledge sharing and communication, both online and in person. It brings together professionals from diverse sectors and regions worldwide, enabling them to exchange valuable insights, innovative ideas, and practical solutions to address One Health challenges. The Nexus is spearheaded by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and powered by the Quadripartite — FAO, World Health Organization (WHO), World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH), and United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). The knowledge is generated to enhance the practical implementation of One Health and support the One Health Joint Plan of Action. This initiative is supported by financial contributions from the UK International Development from the UK government, the Gates Foundation, the American Rescue Plan Act, and in-kind contributions of multiple collaborators and partners.

Background		One Health is rapidly gaining momentum as a unified approach to address complex challenges that affect the health of humans, animals, plants and the environment. However, as interest in One Health grows, the expanding volume of related tools, knowledge and evidence can result in cognitive overload, hindering individuals’ ability to find most relevant and actionable content that meets their needs. Addressing this challenge requires the development of efficient systems for sharing tailored information with the right audience at the right time to co-create solutions. Also, One Health actively promotes collective sharing across sectors, disciplines, groups in society, and geographies to bring in different perspectives and make use of the knowledge of many. To facilitate this, through CoPs we are generating a space for individuals interested in One Health to connect within communities to share, generate, exchange, discuss, and refine knowledge and evidence according to their needs and contexts.

Links to the Quadripartite ecosystem		During the 1st Annual Executive Meeting of the Quadripartite in March 2023, FAO, WHO, WOAH, and UNEP decided to jointly establish the One Health Knowledge Nexus and link it with One Health High-Level Expert Panel (OHHLEP)’s workplan and One Health education and workforce development efforts. The One Health Knowledge Nexus is part of wider Quadripartite efforts on One Health, in particular the One Health Joint Plan of Action. It complements the activities of the OHHLEP advisory and creates opportunities to collaborate with other groups focused on collating, synthesizing, exploring, generating, interpreting, and sharing knowledge and evidence related to One Health.
