The VLC SFE offers tailor-made learning opportunities to improve the skills and knowledge of One Health stakeholders, working with various subject matter experts on an ad hoc basis during the development and delivery of courses. Its work is carried out in close contact with Training Focal Points (TFPs) in Burundi, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda. Specifically, the role of TFPs is to assist their country's Chief Veterinary Officer to manage training participants, ensure that nominated participants complete online training, and contribute to the training needs assessment process.
The main language of instruction for VLC SFE courses is English, some of the core courses delivered are: the Sheep and Goat Pox Preparedness course, the Female Leadership in One Health for Animal and Human Health Workers course, the African Swine Fever Prevention and Control in Resource Limited Settings course, the Avian Influenza Preparedness course, the Concepts of One Health course and the Farm Biosecurity and One Health for Veterinary Paraprofessionals course. The Concepts of One Health course and the Female Leadership in One Health course have had a huge impact in the region, and participants have often requested their repetition.
