Program overview
Welcome to the Regional Field Epidemiology Training Program for Veterinarians (R-FETPV).
R-FETPV is part of a joint program being developed through close collaboration with Thailand Department of Livestock (DLD), Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives (MoAC) and Department of Disease Control (DDC), Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) with strong support from Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and US Center for Disease Control (US-CDC). The program provides government agencies with veterinary field epidemiologists who can conduct effective and timely outbreak response and surveillance for existing and emerging infectious diseases.
The R-FETPV progressive modular course comprises of three modules. Subsequent to the following training module depends on successful completion of each module and so trainees can progress from basic, to intermediate, and to advance stages to finally complete the three-module R-FETPV. Each module has two components of classroom training and in-country field activities. After being trained in various topics, trainees will return to their home country to conduct secondary data analysis (module one) and outbreak investigation (module two) as required by R-FETPV. The last module is modified to integrate with a thesis-based master degree from Veterinary Faculty, Universities in Thailand.
